Elek Matolay Memorial , International competition in Hungary, November 15, 16 2008
 

In this International clubs competition in Budapest, Hungary, Hapoel Tel Aviv's gymnasts won great achievements when they finished the competition with 9 medals and 12 finals.

In the competition participated gymnasts from Hungary, Ukraine, Portugal, Norway, Netherlands, Slovakia, Belgium, Croatia and Israel and the girls divided into 4 groups according their ages:

Senior- born year 1992 and up.
Junior- born between years 1993-1994.
Younger junior- born between years 1995-1996.
Young- born year 1997.

In the group competition, the best result out of each category was taken when 3 out of 4 results entered the group average.

Hapoel Tel Aviv club ranked only in 4th place because they didn't have representative in the senior group, a group that gets higher points.

In the junior category, Roni Rabinovich won the sliver medal in the all-around and won a special trophy, a donation from the Hungarian Maccabia organizers that were also a sponsor in this competition. In the final competition, Roni won the bronze medal on bars and 4th place on vault where she executed a Yurchenko layout for the first time in a competition. Hadas Koren won the bronze medal on beam and 5th place on bars.

In the Younger junior category, Noam Winograd won the silver medal on beam and 4th place on floor. Nofar Cohen that just recovered from an injury won the bronze medal on bars. Yoval Samoha ranked in 4th place on beam.

In the Young category, Tal Feingold won the sliver medal in the all-around and got into 3 finals: on floor- 1st place, on bars- 3rd place and on beam-2nd place.

All the girls were judged by the FIG requirements.
Orna Shai was invited by the Hungarian club to be the head judge of the competition.

In the competition participated gymnasts from Lugansk club from Ukraine and Postas and Ksi se clubs from Hungary that already prepare gymnasts for the 2012 Olympic Games and that is why the level in the junior category was so high.

The competition organizers prepare a finale party where they taught the girls Hungarian folk dance and they also organized a trip in Budapest.

It was a great experience to the coaches, Zahava Zissman and Maya Shani.
