About us

The W.N.P. Center for Women's Health Education was established as a non-profit organization in January of 2002 to serve the women of Israel's Central Galilee region; City of Karmiel, Regional Council of Misgav, and surrounding Arab and Druze towns and villages.

Up-to-date research and statistics show that women suffer from disproportionate levels of violence, depression, drug and alcohol abuse, sexual harassment, eating disorders, anxiety, low self-esteem, diabetes, hypertension, poverty and general lack of wellbeing. The current social, political and economic situation in Israel has lead to an exacerbation of these issues; the Galilee, as a micro cosmos of Israeli society; multicultural and socioeconomically diverse, reflects these difficulties and needs and presents a unique challenge and hope for the future of Israeli society.

Our vision is to increase awareness of women’s health issues. Expand accessibility and availability of health education that is culturally sensitive, addressing the underlying psychological, social and economic causes that lead to illness or lack of well-being. We endeavor to create an environment of change, to encourage empowerment, inform of life style choices and increase community support and involvement in all aspects of the lives of women of all ages.

Community based outreach programs encompass the entire spectrum of women within our region; Town Arab, Bedouin, new immigrants, single mothers, the new mother, youth, working woman and low - income groups.

Hundreds of workshops, work place screenings, discussion groups, enrichment and training seminars, taking place in five languages, provide holistic health education services and community based support that were unavailable, economically inaccessible or culturally inappropriate.

We are a voluntary organization, encouraging women to become empowered both as individuals and as a community advocates.

We evaluate our programs on an ongoing basis - quantitively and qualitatively. Each year we undertake a widely based evaluation questionnaire regarding participant background, health status, life style choices and changes, if any, following participation in our programs. We aim for a cross section of the public and send out 1500 such questionnaires.

Our long-term goals are to increase our organizational capacity and emphasize our role as supporters of community initiatives that empower women to take responsibility for their health and wellbeing. We continue to work hard to enlarge and increase our circles of influence so that every woman within our region will not only have access to information but will obtain the tools to take responsibility for her health and make healthy life style choices. We wish to make a real and measurable difference in the lives of women for the benefit of all of our communities
